Lindsay Fox
Logistics industry magnate and businessman, Lindsay Fox will feature as a speaker at the Safety Summit.
Mr Fox is recognised as the pioneer of integrated logistics in Australia. In 1956 he founded the Linfox Company – starting out with only one truck and the ambition to build a substantial distribution organisation. Today, Linfox remains the industry leader in the provision of warehousing, transportation and supply chain management.
Linfox has set a fine example of industry best practice in the push to improve their current occupational health and safety standards. Improving conditions for their drivers and supply chain members is one of their main priorities and they have raised the bar in advocating a 'whole supply chain approach' to road transport.
Mr Fox was recently one of only six people to be made a Companion of the Order of Australia as part of this year’s Australia Day awards. He was recognised for his long and dedicated service to the Australian logistics industry and numerous community based endeavours.
Michael Connolly
Michael Connolly is a senior associate at Minter EllisonLawyers.
He practises in all areas of employment law.Michael has a specialist focus on Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Law.
Prior to joining Minter Ellison, Michael was employed as a safety inspector and later, a solicitor with Workcover New South Wales.
Given his experience, Michael brings unique insight and a depth of knowledge regarding compliance with OH&S legislation, OH&S management systems and approaches to dealing with investigations and incidents.
Michael has acted for a number of private and public sector clients providing advice on compliance with State, Territory and Commonwealth OH&S legislation, developing OH&S management systems and acting for clients in defending prosecutions by the relevant authorities.
Michael advises numerous clients in high risk industries, including transport and trucking and is attune to the key risk areas and changing legislation shaping the industry.
Other speakers at the Safety Summit will include representatives from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, the Transport Workers Union, WA Office of Road Safety and former ATA professional driver of the year award winners.
