Delegates at the 2010 Australian Trucking Convention will have the opportunity to hear from one of the world’s largest trucking operations, when Werner Enterprises’ Chief Operating Officer, Derek J Leathers presents at the event.

One of the five largest truckload carriers in the United States, with a diversified portfolio of transportation services, Werner’s fleet consists of 7,300 prime movers, almost 25,000 trailers and nearly 12,000 associates and independent contractors.
The main commodities of freight transported are retail store merchandise, consumer products, manufactured products and grocery products.

Derek J Leathers is the Chief Operating Officer of Werner Enterprises and President of Werner Global Logistics.
Mr Leathers has worked in the international logistics industry for nearly 20 years and has served as an advisor for two US ambassadors to Mexico as well as on the American Trucking Association’s Cross-Border Advisory Committee for North America.
Mr Leathers was one of the first foreign members of Mexico’s trucking association (CANACAR) and has successfully led the launch of multiple new logistics products in low-cost countries.
Prior to joining Werner in 1999, Mr Leathers was Vice President of Schneider National’s Mexico operation, and was based out of Mexico City for several years. Most recently, he helped guide Werner’s expansion into Asia.
At the 2010 Australian Trucking Convention, Mr Leathers will speak to delegates on Werner Enterprises, the American trucking industry and what local operators can do to improve their businesses.
