ATA launches new TruckWeek website

Australia’s peak trucking industry body, the Australian Trucking Association, has today launched the official TruckWeek 2010 website.

The website is the best source of information for TruckWeek 2010, which is being held across Australia from 21 -27 February.

TruckWeek will bring together the ATA, its member organisations and companies to promote truck safety, the importance of the industry and its staff, and the great careers trucking now offers. (more…)

National road safety advertising campaign

ATA member organisation NatRoad will run a series of TV advertisements in TruckWeek, to urge motorists to share the road safely with trucks.

The advertisements will focus on three key points that motorists need to remember when they drive near heavy vehicles:

  • trucks are up to 50 times heavier than cars, so they take longer to stop. Do not cut in front of trucks or drive too close behind them. At the same time, it’s vital that truck drivers do not drive too close behind the car in front.
  • do not attempt to pass a turning truck on the left, because trucks are legally allowed to use the whole width of the road to turn.
  • stay in view:  if you can’t see the rear vision mirrors on a truck, the truck driver can’t see you. (more…)

ATA NSW gets politicians in the cab for TruckWeek

New South Wales’ peak trucking industry body, ATA NSW, is inviting politicians from across the state to hop into a truck as part of TruckWeek 2010.

ATA NSW Manager, Jill Lewis, said she hopes politicians will take up the offer to find out more about the industry.

“The trucking industry is a vital part of the New South Wales economy. Trucks deliver 75 per cent of all freight across the state, including every item in every supermarket,” Ms Lewis said. (more…)

Industry announces TruckWeek 2010

Online form makes nominating an industry legend a breeze
