Final touches being made to TMC program

The 2009 Technical and Maintenance Conference will offer delegates the chance to hear from some of Australia’s leading experts and will be the perfect place to get up-to-date on the latest information on advancements for the workshop.

The ATA Events team have begun finalising the sessions for the conference, with a wide range of topics guaranteed to inform and educate delegates.

The TMC is the only annual gathering open to all professionals employed in trucking workshops, fleet managers and suppliers to the road transport industry.

This year, the conference will be multi-streamed, allowing delegates to choose the session that interest them.

Among the sessions to be finalised this week are:

  • PBS experiences - Information on the process of PRP, issues confronting assessors and certifiers of PBS vehicles, operator experiences under PBS and the new NTC initiatives.
  • Global regulations - An insight into the activities of vehicle manufacturers who are carrying out the testing to meet global regulations.
  • Innovations with transport safety equipment - An overview of the work the forestry industry is doing to improve transport efficiency, with a specific focus on PBS and the retro-fitting of hybrid drive technology.
  • Tyre maintenance - Leading tyre manufacturers will demonstrate the issues that operators can expect with tyre wear and the common traps of poor maintenance.
  • Transmission and hybrid truck maintenance – Suppliers will discuss general maintenance traps for the workshop employee when servicing automated manuals and fully automatic transmissions, such as those used in European, American and Japanese trucks.
  • Trailer technology developments - A panel discussion which will cover a wide range of topics including lighting, brakes, load restraint, PBS and much more.

The 2009 ATA/ARTSA Technical and Maintenance Conference will be held at Silverwater Resort in San Remo, the gateway to Victoria’s Phillip Island from Sunday 15 to Tuesday 17 November.www.ataevents.net.au.
