The ATA has cleared almost half a day from the 2009 Australian Trucking Convention program to focus on the results of the new crash study released by Australia’s key truck insurer, NTI.
The author of the NTI crash study, Owen Driscoll, will present his findings to ATC09 on the morning of Thursday 23 April.
After his presentation, senior officers from Queensland Police and the Queensland Health Department will present alarming new statistics about drug use and how it can affect a driver’s fitness for duty. Fitness for duty is one of the key safety concerns raised by the NTI study.
The morning will conclude with an open forum about what the study means for the trucking industry and road safety. The open forum will be facilitated by Steve Shearer, the chairman of the ATA Council’s Safety Committee.
It’s your chance to put your views to the safety experts and to talk with colleagues about how to make the industry safer.
You can download the whole study from www.nti.com.au, or read the key findings in today’s issue of the Friday Facts, the ATA’s weekly newsletter. You can get it by clicking here.
