NOMINATE AN INDUSTRY LEGEND

The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) has today called for nominations for the 2009 National Trucking Industry Awards. The Awards ceremony will take place at the ATA Foundation Sponsors Gala Dinner, part of the 2009 Australian Trucking Convention to be held on the Gold Coast from 21-24 April.

ATA Chairman, Trevor Martyn urged members of the Australian trucking community to take the opportunity to recognise the people who have contributed to shaping the industry into what it is today.

“The awards recognise excellence in all facets of our industry, including the contribution of operators, drivers, trainers and the National Trucking Industry Woman of the Year Award,” Mr Martyn said.

“The trucking industry can proudly say we carry Australia and this is a time to recognise our achievements.

“It is important that we identify the individuals who contribute to the trucking industry’s ever growing level of professionalism, so I am urging people to think about an individual or business that stands out in their mind as one who has made an exceptional contribution and nominate them for an award,” he said.

Categories for the 2009 Awards are:

• National Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Australian Trucking Industry

• National Professional Driver of the Year Award

• National Australian Trucking Industry Woman of the Year Award

• Training Excellence Award

In addition to the National Trucking Industry Awards the Don Watson – ATA in Appreciation Award will also be presented to recognise the dedicated efforts of individuals within the broader trucking industry to the activities of the industry network.
The 2009 awards have some fantastic prizes on offer, including three international travel packages.
