Chairman’s Address
The Australian Trucking Association is once again delighted to play host to the annual Australian Trucking Convention.
With many major changes set to affect the trucking community this year, the 2008 Convention program will address issues that are essential for businesses, operators and drivers.
High on the agenda will be the new fatigue management rules. With the new rules set to be enforced from September this year, we hope these discussions will provide you with practical advice on how different types of businesses can make the best choices for their operations.
The program will also look at the emerging environmental and safety frameworks for the industry. We want delegates to leave this year's convention with key insights into what the future will hold for your businesses.
This year's program will also feature an array of local and international presenters who will share an absolute wealth of knowledge with all who attend.
The entire ATA network is very much looking forward to the official launch of the Mobile Education Centre at this year’s Convention. After many months of very hard work and organisation by the MEC project committee, we will finally see the launch of this very important national safety initiative which will aid in spreading the ATA's message of safety across the country.
The 2008 Convention will present an ideal opportunity for delegates to engage with the industry's regulators and network with representatives from all industry sectors in both formal and informal environments.
This year's social and partners program will create a relaxed and friendly parallel to the business end of the convention. While you’re here, we encourage all delegates to take some time out and fully explore some of the truly great attractions our nation’s capital has to offer visitors.
I encourage all delegates to make the most of the innovative exhibitions that will be on display at the Convention. For exhibitors, the event will be one of the greatest opportunities for exposure within the industry - your audience at the Convention could very well turn into your customers in the future.
Let me take this opportunity to welcome you. Whether you are a delegate, exhibitor or sponsor, I hope you will find your experience at the 2008 Australian Trucking Convention to be both a positive and rewarding one.
