Highway Guardian Award

This national award sponsored by Continental Tyres of Australia acknowledges heroic and humane acts performed by professional truck drivers in the course of their driving. The publicity it creates will contribute to improved road safety awareness, as well as enhancing the general public’s appreciation of our drivers’ interests in safety.

Michael saved the lives of Shayne and Amanda Richardson in Withcott, Queensland, during the January 2011 floods. Michael said, “I didn’t really think about it. It was just a natural thing to do, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. I hope other people would as well.”

The National Judging Committee will review all worthy acts brought to its attention.
