More than 12 million incident free kms in 44 years shows that Kevin is an outstanding and professional truck driver. Kevin has achieved this through his unfailing commitment to doing the job properly and safely.

Robert Machin – Hawkins Road Transport

Townsville, QLD

In Robert’s long career with Hawkins Road Transport he has gained the highest level of trust and respect from his employer and their customers. Robert takes a proactive approach to safety. He has an outstanding driving record, including no recorded traffic offences from 1949 to the present day.

Con Theodosis – Simon National Carriers

Toowoomba, QLD

Con has a long and commendable history as a professional driver serving his employers and the community for 48 years with a safe driving history and no serious traffic incidents. He displays the qualities of an industry ambassador with his strong work ethic and values, appearance and willingness to help others.

Outstanding Contribution to the Australian Trucking Industry

Peter Thompson - Kagan Logistics Ltd

Heritage Park, QLD

Peter’s contributions to the industry span a number of fields. He is a member of Kagan Logistics’ safety committee and is responsible for monitoring workplace safety compliance. For the last 9 years he has been an active member of the Queensland Government Transport and Storage Sector Standing Committee for the Workplace Health & Safety Board.

Barry Hatfield - Words Mean Business Pty Ltd

Castle Hill, NSW

For more than 40 years, Barry has worked tirelessly to ensure trucking has been promoted and represented in a positive way in the media. As a professional journalist, he has been a champion of driver safety and education and has contributed in a significant way to enhancing public awareness of the importance of road transport in Australia.

John Kelly- NTI (deceased)

North Rocks, NSW

John was involved in developing a range of industry safety initiatives over many years. He worked with Craig Roseneder developing Fatigue Management programs and was heavily involved with TruckSafe and Truckplus. John developed and implemented driver training programs and worked with the RTA providing an industry perspective to the development of the Safe T Cam. Sadly, John passed away in 2007; the many accolades following his passing are testament to his wide industry knowledge and dedication.

Training Excellence Award

WA Freight Group

Welshpool, WA

Training has played a significant part in the success of the WA Freight Group. It employs a national training manager and fulltime onsite trainer to develop and coordinate a training program that reflects the needs of the group. All training is delivered onsite in a purpose built training room. The trainer becomes a mentor to the employees, allowing constant performance monitoring and opportunity for continual improvement.

TNT Express Australia

Mascot, NSW

At TNT Express, learning and development forms a significant part of the company’s HR strategy. Operations employees participate in performance development activities, in many cases, tailored ‘personal development plans’ are outlined for individual employees. Through these processes, training needs are identified and are delivered on. 

National Trucking Industry Woman of the Year Award

Helen Savage – Stockmaster Pty Ltd

Westdale, NSW

As secretary for Stockmaster, Helen organises all workshop inductions and driver training in fatigue management. Helen took a lead role in Stockmaster taking on school based apprentices in the transport industry- the first company in Australia to do so. Helen displays an extraordinary level of commitment and has been a key player in lifting the trucking industry’s professional standing, particularly in regional Australia.

Christina MacGregor – MacGregor Logistics

Sunshine, VIC

Christina shows a great deal of concern for the well being of employees and has worked tirelessly to improve facilities and conditions for drivers and administration staff. Christina’s contributions to the trucking industry, through her commitment to the promotion of driver fatigue management and showcasing the industry to students and prospective employees, reflect vision, professionalism and a strong focus on continuous improvement. Christina was also named as the 2007 Wyndham Citizen of the Year.

Carol Single – Single Transport Services

Walkerston, QLD

Carol has been heavily involved with the Mackay Road Action Awareness Group and Safety Committees for a number of years. She is passionate about road safety and has been a key player in the Eton Range project and the dangers the area poses to drivers. Carol is a dedicated member of the Australian trucking industry. She has been a long term supporter of improving safety standards and actively volunteers her time for the betterment of the trucking industry.
